 Middle School Attendance Area Recommendation

The district has reviewed comment on three options for reassigning middle school students.  An alternative has been developed and was recommended to the board on Monday, October 19.  Public comment will continue at pubinfo@fort-mill.k12.sc.us

The South Carolina Department of Health is encouraging parents to closely monitor their children’s health this school year.  To view a letter from the state department of health, click here.

 

The state Department of Health and Environmental control has revised the school and childcare exclusion lists as of August 28, 2009 to better reflect exclusion requirements for influenza-like illnesses and the Novel H1N1 flu.  The revisions are available on-line at:

Exclusion is required for anyone (childcare attendees, students, school staff, faculty, volunteers, etc.) with symptoms of the flu until they have had no fever or signs of fever for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicines. An ill person has signs of a fever if he or she feels warmer than usual to the touch, has a flushed appearance, or is sweating or shivering.  A brochure has been prepared to provide suggestions for the care of flu patients at home. 

No medical note is required in order for students, staff, etc. with confirmed cases of Novel H1N1 flu to return to school.
