Students Return on August 20

The 2008-2009 school year begins very soon.  Offices are now operating on a normal schedule.  New students are asked to register at the school in their attendance area.  A list of documents needed at registration can be found under Parent Information.

Reassignment Process


The Fort Mill School District is now reviewing its elementary attendance areas to prepare for the opening of Sugar Creek Elementary and Pleasant Knoll Elementary in 2009. The process will take into account a number of considerations including enrollment, building capacity, demographics, transportation issues, transitions between schools, keeping neighborhoods together and creating an easily understood plan. A public meeting will be held in September to unveil reassignment options.

2008-2009 Budget

The Fort Mill School District Board of Trustees has adopted a .1 million budget for the next school year. The district will receive a small amount of additional money from the state for growth, but the state will not provide enough money to cover the costs of an anticipated growth rate of +10%. Some program costs have been reduced or eliminated as a result. On June 16, the board approved a fee for athletics.  The money will be used to defray rising transportation costs and the savings will be available to hire additional employees for growth.
